Dorian is a continuation—with a distinct musical language—of the project begun with the 2024 album Victimae. Victimae featured five short compositions for voice and percussion, all based on the Gregorian chant sequence “Victimae Paschali Laudes”. In Victimae, this sequence was explored using various compositional techniques rooted in minimalist aesthetics.Similarly, the tracks on Dorian draw from the same Gregorian melody, but the musical language employed—while retaining references to minimalism, particularly in the track Dorian Pray—shifts closer to psychedelia and progressive rock.
The album’s sound is shaped by the fusion of acoustic instruments (such as guitars, flutes, and percussion) with digital synthesizer sounds. The production incorporates extensive use of samples to create drones and loops, interwoven with vocal melodies and instrumental solos.
